Even at times when tailoring is less prevalent than it is right now, you will never not find sartorialism at Bite Studios, because that’s the backbone of the brand. Launched in 2015, this Swedish company is hitting its stride—with a possible menswear offering to come—and doing so in a careful way. “We restrict ourselves to only using selected organic or low impact materials,” said co-founder Veronika Kant.

Restraint is one of the draws of this brand, that’s defined, in Kant’s words, by an “expressive minimalism.” Bite’s tailoring is clean, but not strict, and there’s a subtle liquidity to the fall of the fabric, which is complimented by draped blouses or stretch-lace shirts. It’s not a dress brand, “there are so many in the market,” noted co-founder William Lundgren, but the fall collection includes a number of LBDs, including one with a knotted swag detail, and another sleeveless number with a ruffle; both are simple and effective.

This collection has two hero categories, suiting and outerwear, and the team applied “petal” details to both. There’s a pretty peplum belt that can be tied around the waist, and a shoulder ruff on a really chic black coat with standing seams down the sleeves. Other outerwear pieces have subtle scalloped petal shapes as well. Kant explained that these “feminine” touches compliment the tailoring. Her word choice is intriguing as it suggests that soft can also be strong; an important message indeed.
