In the past, Jennifer Lawrence has typically favured ethereal gowns on the red carpet, realized in sequins or florals. But at the opening night for CinemaCon in Las Vegas on 24 April, the actor experimented with something new.
Lawrence arrived at the event in a velvet minidress nipped at the waist that featured in Versace’s high-octane fall 2023 show, held in LA last month. “I wanted to go back to the cut and shape of the clothes, to concentrate on the perfect little black dress, the perfect black suit,” Donatella said of the collection.
The star wore the look as it was seen on the runway, with sheer black tights, a crystal choker and powder pink bow-adorned pumps – though she did swerve the patent gloves it was styled with at the show. Rather than sporting the heavy winged eyeliner seen on the model, Lawrence opted for a classic smoky eye, and wore her hair in an understated middle-parting.
